Sacramento, California is home to the Crawfish & Catfish Festival as well as the Farm-to-Fork Festival. Another popular area in Sacramento is the Old Sacramento Waterfront which was established in 1849. Many history museums and information centers provide information on Sacramento’s history and development.
 
Sutter’s Fort State Historic State Park contains information regarding California’s frontier history and the impending gold rush that altered the history of the State forever. Animal lovers who reside in Sacramento visit the Sacramento Zoo and observe over 500 animals. The Sacramento Zoo covers 14 acres and participates in conservation projects within the state and abroad.
 
The Capitol Museum is one of the most popular museums in Central California. Other notable museums are located around the Capitol Mall. Residents who enjoy arts and culture enjoy spending time at Crocker Art Museum. Stanford Mansion is a popular Victorian mansion and museum. The California State Railroad Museum is another favorite place to learn about railroad history and how the Transcontinental Railroad was finished.
